Practical wisdom for educators navigating digital learning

A resource hub where I share what I have learned from decades of exploring the intersection of technology and teaching, long before online learning became the everyday reality it is today.

Over the past three and a half decades I have worn many hats. I have been a language teacher, an academic, an educational technologist, an e-learning adviser, a researcher, a writer, a traveller. For most of my career I worked at the Australian National University and the University of Canberra, where I spent many years exploring the intersection of technology and teaching, long before online learning became the everyday reality it is today. I have published research, presented at international conferences, pioneered multimedia language learning resources, and won university teaching awards along the way.

Now, as my formal working life draws to a close, I want to share what I have learned with fellow educators who are navigating the complexities of online teaching, learning management systems, and the constant pressure to keep up with new technology. This is not about chasing every new tool or trend. It is about understanding the principles that make online teaching work, regardless of which platform you are using or what the latest EdTech buzzword happens to be.

"Master Any LMS: The Universal Skills That Transfer Across Every System"

I am writing a book for educators who are tired of learning a new LMS every few years only to have their institution switch platforms again. This book teaches you the universal skills that work across every Learning Management System, so you can stop panicking about platform changes and focus on what you do best: teaching.

What the Book Covers

The book is built around a universal framework that works across every Learning Management System, covering the core skills that transfer regardless of which platform your institution uses, from organising your course structure and sharing resources to designing meaningful assessments, providing feedback, communicating with students, and knowing when someone needs extra support.

A practical third section guides you through what to do when platforms change, how to troubleshoot with confidence, and how to future-proof your skills so that the next time your institution announces a new system, you are the calm one in the room.
