About Me
I was born in Trento, Italy and before moving to Australia at the end of 1980 lived in Torbole sul Garda in the beautiful Trentino region of northern Italy. Having arrived in Australia without really speaking any English, I did what I always do: rolled up my sleeves and learned what I needed to learn to thrive.
Over the past four and a half decades I have worn many hats. I have been a language teacher, an academic, an educational technologist, an e-learning adviser, a researcher, a writer, a traveller. For most of my career I worked at the Australian National University and the University of Canberra, where I spent many years exploring the intersection of technology and teaching, long before online learning became the everyday reality it is today. I have published research, presented at international conferences, pioneered multimedia language learning resources, and won university teaching awards along the way.
But alongside that professional life there has always been another life running parallel: I love my family, I love cooking and collecting recipes from every culture I encounter, I have strong opinions about the best way to travel in Italy, I crochet and knit and sew, I grow things and make things and believe deeply that a life well lived is one where you never stop being curious.
This website is where those two lives finally meet, my "retire busy" plan as my formal working life is drawing to a close. Enjoying the freedom to share everything I have learned, cooked, made, and experienced with people who are just as curious as I am.
Welcome to Grazia Space.
